AD8221
ADI AD8221 precision instrumentation amplifier with a low offset and drift, a low noise and a gain specified over temperature, in an 8-lead SOIC.
The AD8221 is a high-performance instrumentation amplifier from ADI that improves on the classic AD620 with a lower input offset voltage, a lower offset drift and a lower voltage noise, which suits a precision measurement where the error budget is tight. A single external resistor sets the gain, and the gain is specified over the full temperature range rather than only at 25 degrees, so a design that must hold its accuracy across a harsh environment keeps a predictable error. The part provides a high common-mode rejection that remains strong across the frequency range, which matters when a switching stage injects a common-mode disturbance onto a small sensor signal, and the low input current limits the error with a high source impedance. The output is referenced to a pin, so the stage can level-shift into an analog-to-digital converter, and the supply range spans about ±2.3 V to ±18 V with a low current. The internally trimmed resistors remove the need for external matching, and the small SOIC package fits a dense board. Typical applications include a precision medical or a scientific instrument, a strain-gauge and a load-cell bridge, a thermocouple measurement, a data-acquisition front end and an industrial process-control input. Every device BeiLuo ships is factory-traceable and includes an import declaration, a certificate of origin and a RoHS compliance file. FAE Professional Review
The AD8221 is the precision step up from the AD620: a lower offset and drift, a lower noise and a gain specified over temperature, which suits a load-cell or a medical front end. The strong common-mode rejection across frequency helps when a switcher injects a disturbance. Match the source impedances and use a low-drift gain resistor to protect the accuracy.

Frequently Asked Questions
What projects suit the AD8221?
It suits a precision front end where the offset and the drift dominate the error budget, such as a load-cell, a thermocouple or a medical measurement, with a gain specified over the full temperature range.
Confirm the gain and the supply for your design.
AD620 or AD8221?
Choose the AD620 for a cost-sensitive bridge or sensor front end, and the AD8221 where a lower offset, a lower drift and a lower noise matter, or where the gain accuracy must hold over temperature.
Read the amplifier selection guide.
Is the amplifier genuine and documented?
BeiLuo supplies factory-traceable AD8221 amplifiers with an import declaration, certificate of origin and RoHS file on every order. Stock is normally available and the datasheet downloads from this page.
