ADP7118
ADI ADP7118 20 V 200 mA low-noise LDO regulator with a high power-supply rejection and a low dropout, in an 8-lead SOIC.
The ADP7118 is a low-noise, low-dropout linear regulator from ADI that turns a rough rail into the quiet, well-regulated supply a precision analog or a mixed-signal load needs. The part provides a high power-supply rejection across the frequency range, so it filters the ripple that a preceding switching regulator leaves behind, and its low output noise suits an analog-to-digital converter, a reference or a precision amplifier that would otherwise see the switcher. The input range of about 2.7 V to 20 V covers a 5 V, a 12 V and a battery rail, and the configurable output with an external divider lets a designer set the rail precisely, while a fixed option is available for a common voltage. The dropout is low, so the regulator holds the output as the input falls toward the output, which suits a battery-powered instrument that must use the last of the charge. Soft-start, a current limit and a thermal shutdown protect the part and the load, and the small SOIC package fits a dense board. Typical applications include a clean analog rail behind a switcher, a reference supply, a precision sensor or an instrument rail, a communications card and a portable or a medical device. Every device BeiLuo ships is factory-traceable and includes an import declaration, a certificate of origin and a RoHS compliance file. Our FAE team helps you choose the output and the noise target and plan the layout.
FAE Professional Review
The ADP7118 is the clean-up stage a precision design wants: a high power-supply rejection and a low output noise to remove the ripple a switcher leaves, in a small, low-dropout part. Place it close to the analog load, keep the output capacitor and the noise-reduction capacitor close, and it will deliver a quiet rail that a converter or a reference can trust.

Frequently Asked Questions
What projects suit the ADP7118?
It suits a precision analog or a mixed-signal rail that must be quiet, such as behind a switcher, a reference supply or a sensor rail, with a low noise and a high power-supply rejection.
Confirm the output and the noise target for your design.
Why use an LDO after a switcher?
A switching regulator is efficient but leaves a ripple, and a low-noise LDO placed after it removes that ripple and delivers a clean rail for the analog load. The combination keeps both the efficiency and the quietness.
Read the power supply design guide.
Is the regulator genuine and documented?
BeiLuo supplies factory-traceable ADP7118 regulators with an import declaration, certificate of origin and RoHS file on every order. Stock is normally available and the datasheet downloads from this page.
